Cycling in other cities
Posted by James on December 11th, 2007 filed in UrbanI’m in Seattle this week, which is different from my normal bi-monthly trips to Detroit. I’m always curious how people in cities other than New York deal with bicycles. I’ve never seen a bicycle in Detroit, but here in Seattle, there are a fair number of them on the streets.

The biggest difference is how Seattle residents lock up their bicycles. Apparently locking your bicycle to itself is enough to deter even the most determined thief in the coffee capital of the America. And everyone leave their helmets on the handlebars. This was not the only bike I saw locked up like this. Insanity!
Speaking of bicycles in other cities, this story about the bicycle rental program in Paris appeals to my inner designer and to my love of bicycles.
