Let Levi Ride

So the AOS has decided to ban Team Astana from competing in any race organized by them in 2008. This not only includes Paris-Nice and Paris-Roubaix but the Tour itself. Given last year’s events at the Tour with Alexander Vinokourov, the decision is somewhat understandable but the timing is completely off. If the AOS knew it was going to ban Astana, why didn’t they do it at the end of the season? Why now? Why after the team has completely regrouped with new general manager (Johan Bruyneel of Team Discovery) and new riders-two of which were on the podium last July, winner Alberto Contador and 3rd place holder, Levi Leipheimer? The new Team Astana is nothing like the team of yore and they shouldn’t be treated as such. It would be a shame to have a tour without last year’s winner defending his title.

You can show your support by signing a petition set up by Levi Leipheimer to allow both himself and his team ride.www.letleviride.com
