Do you wish New York had more well designed bike racks? Well, your time has come to do something about it!

The DOT and Cooper-Hewitt have just announced a Bike Parking Design Competition.

They say the current design has been in use for over 10 years and does not fulfill its potential to be an icon for NYC cycling. There are two categories in the competition: the Sidewalk Rack and In-Building Parking. You can choose to design one or both. The competition is open to the international design community including architects, artists, engineers, landscape architects, planners, urban designers, product and industrial designers, and manufacturers. Multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged to participate.
