David Byrne’s Art Project… but only for a little while.
Posted by Kelly on August 20th, 2008 filed in News, Urban, commutingWhy? So David Byrne spent his own money designing and manufacturing a series of nine fun bike racks. They’ve just been installed, but will come down in eleven months because they’re considered an “art project” and “art projects” can’t remain on public land indefinitely without approval by the city’s Public Design Commissions. Why not just consider them BIKE RACKS and leave them up permanently? Doesn’t make any sense. Utilitarian objects can’t be nicely designed?
